Nestled
between the beautiful Red Rocks of Sedona, and Mingus Mountain the City
of Cottonwood Parks and Recreation Department provides the outdoor novice
or aficionado with a multitude of recreational services and amenities.
For starters, families of all ages can enjoy a hike along the Verde River,
one of the last free flowing rivers in Arizona. The Verde River, and stands
of old Cottonwood trees provides people of all ages a chance to enjoy
a serene hike, a relaxing afternoon of fishing, or a place to cool off
during the summer.
While enjoying the Verde River, make it a
point to check out Riverfront Park a 77 acre outdoor oasis located in
the high country which provides a whole host of recreational opportunities
for the family. Riverfront Park is a day use facility located off North
10th Street. The Park boasts ramadas for picnics, large swing sets, a
large play apparatus for the small ones, horseshoes, volleyball courts,
four softball fields, three little league fields, and a soccer field for
a pick up game, or tournament. Also, one can find batting cages a skate
park and an in-line roller hockey court at this venue
If you are simply looking for a place to
have a picnic or birthday party, residents and visitors alike can also
check out Garrison Park, or Lion’s Park. Garrison Park boasts a
children’s play apparatus, a basketball court, swing sets, five
tennis courts, and the City of Cottonwood’s municipal swimming pool.
The Cottonwood Aquatics Center is open to the public from Memorial Day
to Labor Day. However, look for these hours to extend as the City of Cottonwood
embarks on its latest endeavor to construct a voter approved Recreation
Center.

and Recreation Program is to provide quality programming and leisure activities
for the residents of Cottonwood and the surrounding areas at a minimal
cost to the participant. If programs are what you are looking for you
have found your home in the Verde Valley. The Cottonwood Parks and Recreation
Department takes pride in the self acclaimed title of recreational hub
for the Verde Valley. From summer programs and camps for all ages to special
interest classes and adult and youth basketball and softball leagues idle
time is not an issue in this community as there is always something to
